TG4’s Director of Finance & Business Affairs to Step Down

04.03.19

TG4 has announced that their Director of Finance and Business Affairs, Mary Uí Chadhain, will be stepping down in September 2019, after serving with the organisation for 19 years.

Mary, who has worked with TG4 since the year 2000, has decided to officially step down from her duties in September.

This is what she had to say today about her decision:

“I am leaving TG4 after a wonderful 20 year journey and I would like to heartfully congratulate and thank all my colleagues and partners in the industry, for what we have achieved together.

“I have every confidence that TG4 will continue to flourish and develop in the coming years, providing an entertaining, high quality service for our audiences”.

As Director of Finance & Business Development, Mary has had responsibility for financial regulation and business development in the organisation.  She has played a central role in the development of the independent production sector in Ireland, dealing with companies developing their businesses, as well as in the roll out of multi-annual production agreements.

Originally from Cashel, in Connemara, Mary has an extensive business background, her family being the Boulgers, who have been involved in the hospitality industry in the area for many years. She worked for a number of companies in Connemara before taking up her role with TG4. She also has a background in the breeding, buying and selling of Connemara Ponies.

In her role as Director of Finance & Business, Mary has been integral to the development of TG4’s Strategic Five-Year Plan and in the preparation of reports and annual documentation for TG4’s stakeholders.

Mary has shown great leadership in relation to securing funding increases for TG4, from both public and private sources.

She has also represented TG4 on various business and development fora, including IBEC and NIMUX.

Making the announcement today, TG4’s Director General, Alan Esslemont says:

“Mary has been an invaluable member of the TG4 Senior Management Team for many years. She has very extensive and varied expertise, which means that she commands great respect and trust from both staff and the production sector alike. It is to Údarás na Gaeltachta’s advantage that she will be continuing in her role as a member of their board and we wish her well, wherever the next stages of her life journey bring her”.

Chair of the TG4 Board, Siún Ní Raghallaigh, also had this to say about the announcement:

‘As Company Secretary, Mary played a very important role on the Board of TG4. As a member of the Senior Management Team she gave great direction and she was precise and insightful in her critical understanding of business”.

TG4 hope to make an announcement soon on the arrangements for replacing Mary Uí Chadhain.
