Produced by the double IFTA Award-winning team at Gifted Empire Productions, FleadhTV is going from strength to strength this summer. The shows from the four provinces of Ireland, the Connacht, Leinster, Munster & Ulster Fleadh’s have been topping the TG4 ratings in the month of July 2018. Now it’s time to get to the All-Ireland  A programme coming from the monster of an event that is Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann has now become one of TG4’s flagship programmes of the year. FleadhTV first appeared on TV screens in 2013 with Fleadh Cheoil taking place in the North of Ireland, for the first time, in Derry (then titled Fleadh Live), in 2017 the series was watched by over 700,000 over the weekend of live shows.  However FleadhTV isn’t just a music TV show, it’s one of the leading lights of multiscreen viewing with their social channels exploding with content. On Fleadh week last year, 1 million video views were logged on FleadhTV’s own social networks.  In July 2018  alone their social channels had video views of over 500,000, the appetite is there, this is a very social Fleadh!

The FleadhTV shows in August there is an extra show so it’s now running from Thursday 16th August to Sunday 19th August inclusive from 8.30pm to 11.30pm each night.  Fleadh Cheoil 2018 will be taking place on the East Coast of Ireland in Drogheda. Acts confirmed to appear on the shows include Zoe Conway, Finnegan McSherry, Duke Special & Ulaid, Rioghnach Connolly, Declan O’Rourke, Karen Casey, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, Kíla, The Evertides and Frankie Gavin’s Roaring 20s Irish Orchestra.

Hector Ó hEochagáin returns this year and joining him in her debut on FleadhTV is renowned musician and Gaeilgeoir Doireann Ni Ghlacáin. New to the presenting team also is well known RTÉ Radio 1 presenter and lead vocalist from The Evertides Ruth Smith.

So there you have it, summer is sorted with a musical journey “ceol agus caint” from the four corners of Ireland will descend on Drogheda for FleadhTV this August 16-19th. When you’ve come in from the sun, what better way to round off the day with tunes and a whole lot more, this is no ordinary music and online TV show, this is FleadhTV.

Gifted Empire Productions produce FleadhTV for TG4. Gifted Empire Productions are a Derry based TV Production company that has won two IFTA Awards for their shows.  In 2015 they took home the IFTA for Best Life Event for FleadhTV and in 2018 they won again in Best Live Event for TG4XX Beo, the 20th anniversary celebrations of TG4 from NUIG.  Paul McKay is Executive Producer and Director. Gifted Empire Productions will produce a brand new TV show from Derry on October 31st, 2018.  Samhain Live will celebrate the city’s spectacular Halloween celebrations for the first time on live TV.  Samhain Live will be jointly broadcast by BBC Northern Ireland and TG4.  The show will feature some of the very best of Irish contemporary musicians and bands.

Hector’s home for 16 years has been TG4, where he has recently returned from the jungles of Central America with his latest TV hit “Hector Central.  He is in full development of a number of projects & a brand new travel adventure on TG4 for 2018.

Hector has been entertaining the country on radio over the last few years, first with his hugely popular weekend show with Tommy Tiernan, then he continued to “keep er lit” on acclaimed breakfast show on 2fm & now has resumed radio duties with his brand new “Sunday Sitting room” on Today FM.

Hector has won multiple IFTA awards with his shows have spanned 15 years on our screens.  He is unique in creating & writing the majority of his television ideas, from the Horse Racing hit “Only Fools Buy Horses” to “Hanging with Hector” and on to the series where he immersed himself in sub cultures all over the country “Hector Goes”, which aired on Primetime RTE 1 in 2013 & 2014.

Doireann Ní Ghlacáin, hails from Dublin and is currently undergoing a PHD in Irish in NUIG.  Her thesis is based on the sean nós songs of the Muskerry Gaeltacht, many of which were reintroduced into the modern tradition by her maternal grandfather, Seán Ó’Riada.  Although an accomplished sean nós singer, having won many prestigious awards such as that of Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Glackin is better known for her fiddle playing.  She learnt the fiddle from her father Kevin Glackin and has gone on to bring her music to the world stage in recent years.  She has also performed on all major traditional music broadcasts of late such as HUP, Béaloideas Beo and of note Tradfest TG4 a forthcoming series, which she also presents

Ruth Smith is a performer, broadcaster, musician & teacher based in County Clare.

She holds a BA in Music, Drama & Theatre Studies from Trinity College Dublin, an MA in Trad Performance from the World Academy of Music & Dance, University of Limerick as well as a CCÉ TTCT & Royal Irish Academy Teachers Diploma.

As 1/3 of the vocal & instrumental trio The Evertides https://theevertides.com Ruth plays fiddle, piano & guitar and has performed at Doolin Folk Festival, Body & Soul & Temple Bar Trad Fest, supporting the likes of Wallis Bird & The Lost Brothers.  Her recent on stage work includes performing as ‘Ex-Girldfriend’ in the Oscar and Tony award winning musical ‘Once’ for the 2017 Summer production in The Olympia Theatre, Dublin with Landmark Productions, and as a member of the original cast of THISISPOPBABY’s hit show RIOT.

An experienced MC & events producer Ruth has worked with the 2011/2012 Volvo Ocean Race and the 2012 London Olympics and closer to home with Croke Park – GAA, MC’ing for League & Championship fixtures over the past few years, including the Senior All-Ireland Finals to a packed Croke Park.

Ruth is a regular presenter on RTÉ Radio 1 with her show Simply Folk http://www.rte.ie/radio1/simply-folk/ – along with broadcaster John Creedon, Ruth will be hosting the inaugural RTÉRadio1 Folk Awards in Vicar Street on the 25th October.
